Zealandia Brand RefreshBrand Image & Identity 2024

This is a conceptual brand refresh, of Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne an eco-sanctuary located in the heart of Wellington, New Zealand, as part of my Bachelor of Design (Honours). In collaboration with Joel Lawrence and Matt Clatin, we aimed to utilise Zealandia’s rich history in preserving the precolonial state of New Zealand and use that to inform future generations and current Wellingtonians.
What If? A question that is at the forefront of our messaging. What If there was more to uncover? Our use of purposely directional arrows layered throughout the designs represents future thinking whilst remaining informed by the past, demonstrating to audiences that our coherent approach is evolving and adding to the already rich history of Zealandia.
We have used three key colours that push our messaging and enable our designs. As we looked into Zealandia’s current visual systems we recognised that the orange signifies observing their past and the blue and green represent the sky, the land and everything in between. Pairing this with a bold, legible typeface and images that spark curiosity that are yet to be uncovered, we believe that this should be the new, Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne.
